The charts provide information on 5 types of communication training undertaken by employees in an international company, along with the reasons behind their participation in such courses. Overall, it is clear that part-time training in the evenings was the choice that most employees opted for and holiday travel was the most common motivation for their participation. In addition, distant learning was the least favoured form of training, while communication with clients was also the least cited reason. Regarding the methods of training selected, part-time evening courses attracted the highest proportion of employees, at 39%, nearly double that of self-tuition and part-time weekend training. Both of these approaches proved equally appealing, with each accounting for an identical share of 22%. The two remaining approaches were far less common. While intensive training represented 12% of the total, distant learning was the least preferred choice among the five, taken up by a mere 5% of the workforce. As for the underlying motivations, holiday travel clearly dominated, being mentioned by almost half of all respondents at 46%, roughly two and a half times the figure for the second most popular reason. The next three motivations commanded broadly comparable shares, as business travel, personal interest and other unspecified reasons accounted for 17%, 14% and 13% respectively. Finally, the need to communicate with clients exerted the least influence, constituting just 10% of all responses.
