The bar chart illustrates the proportion of adults of four different age groups in the United Kingdom who used the internet. Overall, individuals aged 16-24 remained dominant throughout the period, while the oldest age group consistently recorded the lowest figures, starting from no users in 2003. Notably, the figures for the 25-44 and the 45-54 age groups followed an upward trend before finishing at the same level by 2006. Additionally, the most notable overall growth was observed in the 25-44 group, whereas the 55-64 age group remained relatively stable before rising sharply in the last year. In terms of leading categories, the percentage of people aged 16-24 who used the internet topped the chart at 80% in 2003 and remained unchanged in the following year. By contrast, both figures for people in the 25-44 and 45-54 age groups increased slightly from around 50% and 60% to 60% and approximately 65%, respectively. By 2005, the proportion of individuals aged 16-24 using the internet surged to exactly 100% before declining marginally to roughly 90% in the last year. Conversely, the 25-44 and 45-54 age groups continued to rise steadily to reach the same level at 80% in 2006. Regarding the remaining categories, the 55-64 age group hovered around 33% from 2003 to 2005 before increasing significantly to around 45% in 2006. In comparison, there were no internet users among individuals aged 65+ in 2003. However, in the next 3 years, the oldest age group experienced a slight rise, reaching exactly 20% in 2006.
