The bar chart depicts the percentage of families in one country who spent their weekly income between 1968 and 2018. Overall, while expenditure on leisure, transport and housing increased significantly over 50 years, the other options, especially food and personal goods decreased dramatically. For instance, leisure became the highest spending category in 2018. As we can see, the categories which had an upward trend such as leisure, transport and housing had similar fructuaing rates from 8% to 10% in 1968. In 2018, leisure activities became the highest expenditure category with a steady rise to 22%. The expenditure on housing growth nearly doubled, while the rate of transportation increased more moderately at 19% and 14% respectively. In the other categories, food had the highest spending rate clearly at 35% in 1968, while the others such as fuel and power, personal goods and clothing just accounted for 6% to 10%. However, in 2018, the expenditure on food had a dramatically fallen by 17%, and the other categories also decreased by 4-5%. Besides that, the percentage of household goods remained stable at 8% over 50 years.
