＋It is proposed that candidates who are caught cheating in standardized national tests should be allowed the second opportunity to sit the examination again after their scores have been invalidated. I firmly disagree with the opinion as students who are found cheating should not be permitted to retake the examination which can lead to some consequences.

One key reason why I support this view is that retaking the examination may cause injustice in academic study, which may blur the line between competence and incompetence. This is because cheating examinees will have their second chance to redeem their results, making it unfair to other students who only have one opportunity. Moreover, this issue may not discourage learners from being dishonest but may instead inspire them to continue cheating. This reality can cause widespread criticism and repetitive behaviours in each graduation exam. For example, there has been a scandal around Tuyen Quang Gifted School which has been going viral on the internet recently. The relationships between invigilators and candidates helped those examinees achieve a perfect score of 10. A teacher named Nguyen Ha Duy who is related to this case has been detained for further investigation and the police continue to investigate more and coordinate with relevant agencies to figure out the reasons for this illegal activity. Therefore, while making mistakes is unavoidable and those are impulsive actions of the teens, I believe that there should not be a second chance to resit the examination.Opponents may argue that students are still young and immature, so they shouldn't be permanently punished for one mistake which can easily ruin their career prospects. Admittedly, permanent punishment can seem to be excessively harsh for the young generation in charge of their impulsive actions, which may cause students deep remorse in the rest of their lives. However, this argument overlooks the fact that students at any age must follow the rules and face punishment. Otherwise, learners would continue validating examination rules and assume that being caught cheating or involved in academic dishonesty may give you the second chance to redeem yourself in the future. Therefore, students have to be fair in nationwide examinations and also learn how to hold responsibility for their wrongdoings.

In conclusion, while allowing students to retake the examination would be appropriate because they will have chances to redeem themselves, I firmly believe that this may promote dishonesty among students and students have to adhere to the rules along with taking the exam more seriously.
