It is believed that violent crime should not be reported in newspapers or shown on TVs because it can frighten people and encourage criminals. ＋I partly agree with this notion for the following reasons.

On the one hand, if violent crime is shown repeatedly on newspapers or TVs, such news turns the world into a more negative and dangerous place than it actually is. Consequently, this leads to constant anxiety, people taking precautions against each other and being afraid of going out for their daily tasks. Moreover, those violent crime news may encourage criminals to occur because some people who are strangely fascinated by the criminal may copy what the criminal did and commit a similar crime in order to gain reputation and hope to be infamous like their role model.＋ Therefore, we should not broadcast such news repeatedly as it may shape emotion and behaviors.

On the other hand, this type of news should also be reported in newspapers or shown on TVs for several reasons. Firstly, such news may warn the public of potential dangers so that they are aware of where and when the crimes happened and avoid them. And somehow, this also pushes the authorities to take immediate actions in order to solve the case and let the voice of victims be heard. Without such news, people may be ignorant of the danger around them and the truth may never be revealed. Besides that, this news could prevent potential offenders from committing violent crimes as they can witness what happens to the criminals. It is like a wake-up call for them.

In conclusion, although reporting violent crime may scare people and encourage criminal behaviour, we should not suppress this kind of news in order to make people aware of the danger around them and push the authorities to reveal the truth.
