Introduction

In modern times, as technology advances and people gain better access to education and healthcare, it is assumed that people today enjoy a higher standard of living than in the past. I completely agree with this view, pointing to the convenience of technology and the improved access to education and healthcare.

Body

First and foremost, advances in technology have undeniably made people’s lives easier. Especially in today’s fast-paced world, where people prioritize productivity and efficiency, automation and the introduction of artificial intelligence have been significant aids. Evidently, labour-saving devices such as the vacuum robot and the washing machine have enabled individuals to stay away from time-consuming, laborious tasks, thus enjoying more leisure time for themselves. Automated machines, though mistakenly criticized as a cause of unemployment, have indeed shouldered the burden of physically demanding and repetitive jobs for people, allowing them to learn other skills and land a better, more well-paid career. All of these prove that technological development has been remarkably beneficial for humanity.Furthermore, people living in the 21st century also have better access to educational opportunities and healthcare services than their ancestors. The Internet, apparently, is a rich source of information available to anyone, anywhere, at any time. As a result, through watching videos and attending online courses, even people in faraway places can educate themselves and acquire important skills without spending too much time and money on commuting. Moreover, technological innovations have led to many breakthroughs in the medical field. Therefore, diseases considered incurable in the past can now be treated effectively, preventing a major loss of life. There are also better medical infrastructures than in the past, with more sanitized hospitals and increasing clinical offices, allowing people to enjoy better access to healthcare services.Opponents of this view may argue that in the past, people lived in a greener environment, with less pollution and less waste. However, I believe that environmental contamination has never been a concern to the 21st-century inhabitants alone, but rather one faced by humankind throughout history, stretching back ever since the industrial age. Furthermore, while humanity today may face more severe consequences of this problem, we also have better means to address environmental destruction and mitigate its adverse impact. With advanced technological assistance and vast scientific knowledge, people in modern society are, step by step, restoring nature to its healthy state.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I believe that 21st-century inhabitants indeed have a much better quality of life than their ancestors, with more convenience, educational opportunities, and improved healthcare services. The smarter we utilize modern technology, the better our lives will become, and the brighter our future will be.
