The given maps illustrate the functional and structural transformations of a building’s ground from 1958 to present. Overall, the building’s ground level experienced three main reconfiguration processes: office( 1958-1984), apartment(1985-2000) and flower shop( 2001-shop). While the layout has been simplified toward a more open- plan design to suit the function of the room in each phase, the kitchen in the top right corner represents the only permanent feature throughout all three iterations. From 1958 to 1984, the room functioned as an office with 7 specialized rooms. Along the left corridor laid the meeting room, assistant’s office, secretary’s office and toilet located near the entrance. Opposite to the toilet to the right was the reception area, which the manager office located between it and the kitchen. In the next phase, the ground was reconfigured to become an apartment with the most noticeable transformation being the reduction in the number of rooms. To the top left-corner, the meeting room and the assistant’s office were reconstructed to be a living room. It was vertically opposite to the bathroom and shower area, which used to be the toilet and secretary’s office. On the right side, the manger office and the reception room were remodeled to 2 bedrooms near the entrance, while the kitchen was expanded. In the last phase, the room was remodelled to be a flower shop. The living room and the bathroom area were contracted and turned into gift cards and play areas to provide more space for flower exhibition. Similar reconfiguration was conducted to the right side with the 2 bedrooms being transformed into the main office, located in the middle of the corridor. In contrast, the kitchen remained in its original position throughout the period.
