The map illustrates how the village of Ryemouth has developed since 1995. Overall, the village has evolved from a small rural settlement with agricultural and fishing zones to more modern urban areas, with extended residential, industrial, and recreational infrastructure to promote tourism. On the one hand, on the northeastern corner of the village, the open farmland, and a sizable public park with various mature trees in 1995 were entirely removed. At present, this area has been replaced by a sport practicing area, including a golf course and two tennis courts being connected, to signal an upmarket shift. Additionally, to the north-west, there has been a significant increase in the housing density, suggesting a noticeable development in the housing zone. On the other hand, the local park has been cleared, giving place for a newly built car park on the eastern edge today. A restaurant has taken the place of the shop on the west coast, and the fish market has also been replaced by a row of apartments, promoting residential zones. Moreover, the fishing port was discarded, and the hotel has been enlarged to cater for greater visitor demand.
