Introduction

In recent years, the debate over taxation is increasingly popular when considering how money is spent. Although many argue that the money they earn is unnecessary to pay taxes to the government, I disagree with this statement for several compelling reasons.

Body

On the one hand, it offers some undeniable benefits for individuals and society when residents do not pay taxes. First and foremost, one of the main advantages is to increase disposable income. Instead of paying taxes to the government, their earnings can be used to serve their daily lives and meet personal demands. Due to not having to pay personal income taxes, their net salary will be higher as well as each individual can keep more money to save and spend, significantly contributing to their financial improvement. In addition, another advantage to consider is to stimulate consumer spending. If tax exemption is applied to households, they have a tendency to spend more on shopping. This is extremely beneficial for sales businesses because it enables them to sell more products, thereby boosting their revenue and even recruiting additional employees. However, not paying taxes only benefits individuals or businesses in the short term, but it will be detrimental to society as a whole in the long run.On the other hand, the drawbacks it triggers are more significant than its benefits. Firstly, it has a negative influence on residents' living standards. In reality, not paying taxes leads to a state budget deficit, which is used to invest in modern infrastructure, education or healthcare systems. Without sufficient tax income, the quality and availability of these services are likely to deteriorate, leading to lower quality of life and slower economic growth. For example, if not having enough money to build hospitals or buy medical equipment, waiting times for examinations are longer, hence reducing the quality of healthcare. Moreover, governments may struggle to fund social welfare. Reducing taxes may widen the gap between rich and poor because high-income earners may benefit the most from tax cuts while governments have fewer resources to fund welfare programmes for disadvantaged groups. There might be fewer scholarships, unemployment benefits, health insurance or public housing, leaving considerable drawbacks for low-income earners.

Conclusion

In conclusion, although tax exemption can be advantageous to individuals and businesses, it may place excessive pressure on governments and disadvantaged groups in society.
