The first graph illustrates the value changes in UK steel industry in three categories such as UK production, import and total UK demand, while the remaining chart gives information about the number of workforce status in UK steel factory from 1970 to 2000. Overall, the total workers in the UK steel industry experienced a dramatic decrease throughout the period. The figures for UK production and total UK demand also declined, while imports demonstrated consistently increase during the period shown. Regarding the steel indutry's value in total UK demand reached a peak at 200000 in 1970, then it witnessed a rapid fall to about 180000 in 1980, before ending the period at 100000. Similarly, the value of UK steel production started at 160000, after it decreased significantly to 90000 in 1990, and a final drop to 70000 in 2000. In contrast, the figures for import increased sharply from 20000 in 1970 to approximately 50000 in 1980, then it cosistently rose to 70000 in 2000. The highest number of workers employed recorded was 50000 in 1970. However, it plummeted to 40000 10 years later. Finally, the industry's workforce continuously declined to lower 20000 in 2000
