Many countries have a tendency to enhance quality of life through economic growth, but it may also lead to the loss of many important social values. ＋I believe that the disadvantages of economic development outweigh the benefits

One of the greatest merits of economic development can be attributed to producing lucrative work opportunities. If the economy of one’s country falls into economic decline, the residents will have to compete with each other for just low-paid jobs when the demand for well-paid jobs is increasingly higher and many jobs are curtailed. Therefore, it helps adults elevate household income when they can easily achieve a high-salary job aligned with their profession. This enables parents to build a steady economic environment without financial burdens for children that afford them the opportunity to have access to a better education. For example, children who have a stable life and are invested by parents, have more chances to afford the high cost of a prestigious curriculum. As a result, the standard of future human resources can be improved, contributing to ensure sustainable economic growth.

Nevertheless, some potential drawbacks of economic development is that the relentless pursuit of economic growth causes the maintaining social integrity. When economic growth is accelerating that leads to many cities becoming economic hubs, it makes people migrate from rural areas to urban centers in order to seek job opportunities. Consequently, more and more young people leave regional areas which were left with an aging workforce and the absence of the youth. This issue drives rural regions into a vicious cycle of economic decline and underdevelopment, while the urban areas face immense demographic pressure and the expense-living in there also becomes exorbitant as how much money they earn is not affordable for the high cost of living. For instance, in Hanoi, people always complain that no matter what they have worked and saved money for many years, they are still not able to buy an apartment.＋

＋In conclusion, while economic development provides people with essential needs and long-term economic advancement for a country, I opine that these are overshadowed by the problems of overpopulation in urban areas.
