Three of the tables depict how the total population of New York City and its five districts changed over a two-century period, from 1800 to 2000. Overall, the city undergone population growth over two centuries, accompanied by a marked shift in residents from Manhattan to the other districts. In 1800, around 79,000 people live in New York City. After a century, this number had increased more than fortyfold to over 3,4 million. The population continued to growth during the next hundred years but at a reduced speed and doubled, resulting in 8 million people. Regarding population distribution, Manhattan was home to around 60,000 residents so human lived in other districts just account for 24 percent, equal to 18,701 people. By 1900, the population of both Manhattan and other districts were increased by almost same amount when Manhattan contained approximately 1,8 million people, other districts got less 262,984 than Manhattan. The population underwent significant changes in 2000, while the number of Manhattan dipped to 19 percent, the data for other districts jumped to 81 percent, translating to 6,4 million.
