In recent years, environmental pollution has emerged as one of the most challenging problems that humans have ever experienced due to several reasons, including transportation of products and people. Therefore, there are ongoing arguments over whether the governments should be responsible for this problems, or it is the responsibility of individuals. While both views have their advantages and disadvantages, I firmly believe that the collaboration between authorities and citizens is the best approach to contribute to overall efforts to solve this worrying problem

On the one hand, it is understandable that governments should bear more responsibility for environmental contamination, due to their significant possession of transportation systems. Indeed, governments frequently carry out such commercial activities or military activities, requiring numerous vehicles that contribute to substantial amounts of greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating the atmospheric acidification, reducing the public health. In some urban areas, people have been exposed to acid rains, due to the high traffic circulation, leading to several sickness, especially lung-related problems, for example. Besides, a large number of vehicles is also responsible for the noise pollution. Indeed, in many cities, residents habitually tolerate the unbearable noise released from the high concentrations of transports, not only lessening the quality of people’s lives but also raising public opposition to governments. Thus, governments play an indispensable role in mitigating these activities through stricter laws and regulations. Additionally, remedial measures, such as fundraising for victims of environmental pollution, should be implemented promptly; hence providing the better environments for their own citizens.

On the other hand, proponents of distributing responsibility for individuals argue that personal vehicles substantially contribute to environmental pollution. This phenomenon could be seen most critically in developing countries. In fact, in these nations, individual transport occupy major space in streets, posing significant press on transportation systems, and hence leading to traffic congestions, which is one of the primary reasons for noise pollution, despite governmental efforts to encourage using public transit.＋ This is because individuals tend to prioritize the spontaneous convenience over consideration of their long-term consequences; therefore, such motors or personal cars are the first choices for people when going outside. This tendency, of course, leads to the high level of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere and hence intensifies air pollution. As a result, individuals are also responsible for their own activities, requiring themselves to be aware of negative effects of personal transportation; thus reducing the high circulation of vehicles.

Last but not least, both governments and individuals should coordinate with each others to tackle this challenge. Authorities improve the infrastructure of public transit and educate people about detrimental effects of high traffic circulation; in turn, people adhere to laws and regulations, for example.

＋In short, while there remains ongoing debate about this problem, I believe that the coordination between citizens and governments is the most effective approach to alleviate the high transportation and thus remedy the environmental pollution.
