The given maps illustrate the layout of a library’s ground floor in 2001 and how it looked after the renovation in 2009. Overall, it can be seen that there were significant changes made to the library, with various new facilities being constructed. Looking at the ground floor as it was in 2001, there were 8 separate tables centrally located for visitors to sit. Moreover, we can see that there are shelves of 4 categories (Self-help, History, Fiction, and Newspaper and periodicals) that covered the corner of the layout. The librarian’s desk was adjacent to the stairs, located right in front of the entrance for better access. In 2009, however, the shelf in which fiction books were held was demolished to pave the way for more tables, while the Newspaper and Periodicals sector was replaced by Films & DVDs. Another notable developments were that the tables in the centre were extended and various genres were added to the librarian’s collection. Finally, a computer section along with a children’s area was built, with the former situated behind the tables and the latter opposite the stairs.
