The line graph illustrates the proportions of households owing different numbers of computers in a European nation over a 14-year period, from 1997 to 2011. Overall, while the percentage of households without any computers sharply declined over the period, those possessing two or more devices increased substantially. Meanwhile, households owing only one computer are by far the common group throughout. Regarding households with the increasing number of computer ownership, roughly 6% of households owned two computers, while virtually no families possessed more than three computers. The former followed a steady upward trajectory, climbing to 15% in 2003 and settling at nearly 30% by the end of the period. Similarly, a moderate rise was observed in the number of three-or-more-computer households, which began to grow from 2000 onwards and reached approximately 8% in 2011. As for the two remaining groups, not possessing a computer was highly prevalent, with computer-free households accounting for around 47%. This figure was higher than the proportion of those possessing a single device, which stood at 45%. However, the percentage of households without any computers experienced a continuous decline over the following years, which fell to nearly 17% in 2011 and was overtaken by the figure for households owning two computers. In stark contrast, the proportion of one-computer households presented a remarkable stability, hovering around 45% to 46% throughout the period.
