The table provide the information about numbers of workers and factories for manufacturing silk in England and Wales from 1851 to 1901. In general, the figure for employees consisting of male and female decreased dramatically during the periods which led to decline in overall. In contrast, the total number of factories had an upward trend when compared with the previous. Regarding the number of males stood at 53,964 people and followed by a lower of 40,528 while female accounted for 76,786 in the first year before increasing considerably around 51,219 in the final stage. As a result, the overall figure for both of them dropped continuously around 102, 878 employees. Turning to the factories, the number of businesses producing silk climbed sharply whereas beginning at 272 in 1851 and continued to jump dramatically from 1861 to 1881, approximately 538. Afterward, this numbers of factories remained stable despite declined steadily in several years and reached 673 in 1901.
