Looking from an overall perspective, it is clear that the total value demand and the UK production saw a downward trend over the period. Total UK demand had the highest figure in the first paragraph, with 200,000 units in the starting year, which was higher than the UK production, whose figure was nearly 165000 units. The total UK demand decreased gradually to 180,000 units after a decade before plunging to over 100,000 units in 1990, compared to 90,000 for the UK production, which witnessed a notably steady drop over a 2 decades period. Both of the total UK demand and UK production followed a similar pattern from 1990 until the end, with roughly 100,000 and 85,000 units respectively. In terms of the import into the UK, the number of the imports was only 15,000 units in 1970. It climbed gradually by 35,000 units in 1990 before reaching nearly 75,000 units in the final year. Now turning to employment status in the UK steel industry, it recorded its highest figure in 1970 with 50,000 units. This status decreased to 40,000 units in 1980 later before dropping sharply to nearly half of it after 10 years. Finally, it experienced a slight decline to 18,000 units at the end of the period.
