Introduction

Many people believe that it is necessary for students to learn all subjects at school, while others advocate the idea that children should focus on subjects, which are their strengths and interests. Both viewpoints are valid but I would learn towards the latter one.

Body

On the one hand, it is understandable why people support the idea that students need to learn all subjects at school. Chief of these is that, it helps develop holistically and gain a broad knowledge base. For example, if learning all subjects helps children not only develop essential skills such as mathematics, language and science but also broaden their understanding of art and physical abilities. Hence, children can confidently face tackling various life challenges and have a wider range of career choices in the future. Another notable reason is that discovering children’s hidden talents and interests. This can be explained by the fact that learnings multiple subjects give children the opportunity to to try their hand at different fields, thereby discovering talents or interests they may not have realized before. As a result, children can choose the path that best suits their abilities and passions, ensuring long-term success. On the other hand, there are more convincing reasons to believe that students should concentrate only on subjects they are interested in or good at. The foremost reason is that focusing on strengths helps children maximize their potential. To illustrate, by only studying subjects they are truly good at or enjoy, children will dedicate more time and effort, leading to better results. Hence, children can develop specialized skills, creating a solid foundation for their future careers. Furthermore, studying subjects they enjoy or do well in helps reduce academic pressure and boost learning enthusiasm. This means that having to study all subjects can cause stress and demotivation in children, especially when faced with subjects that are not suitable. Consequently, when studying subjects they enjoy, children will be more interested in learning, improving the quality of education and mental health.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while there are arguments in favor of learning all subjects because of holistic development and the opportunity to discover hidden talents, I would contend that students should focus only on subjects they are good at or interested in because of their ability to maximize their potential and reduce academic pressure.
