Introduction
Body
On the one hand, there are several compelling reasons why people believe that young adults should be responsible for their criminal behaviors. Firstly, punishments can act as a deterrent for other teenagers. This is because children will be scared when seeing others getting punished for their wrongdoings. As a result, this approach can significantly mitigate juvenile crime rates. Secondly, one key benefit of punishing young offenders is to teach them how to take responsibility for their unlawful acts instead of avoiding accountability. Specifically, they will gradually realize that every action has serious consequences, which helps them become more mature and eventually develop into self-disciplined and responsible adults.
On the other hand, I side with those who argue that punishing parents would bring more advantages. The prime cause is that children lack maturity to fully understand the law. For instance, they might act illegally due to peer pressure or impulsive thoughts or simply a lack of proper guidance. Hence, it is unfair to force them to take full responsibility for their delinquent behaviours. Moreover, parents are primary caregivers who are most responsible for shaping their children's character and moral values from birth. It is clear that the youth conventionally commit crimes when their parents neglect them and fail to provide proper guidance. Therefore, holding parents legally accountable will force them to cultivate and educate their children by appropriate methods.
Conclusion
In conclusion, although punishing children can deter crimes among juvenile offenders, I believe that parents should take responsibility because they play a vital role in childen's moral development.
