As traffic congestion and transportation issues become increasingly serious in many countries, some believe that reducing the need to travel from home to workplaces, schools or shopping malls is the most effective way to control traffic jams. I disagree with this position because few people can follow this method and upgrading streets or better road planning is a more effective solution.

On the one hand, reducing the demand for travel for work, education and shopping brings some benefits in controlling traffic congestion. The less people need to travel, the fewer vehicles appearance on streets. For example, students who have just moved on to online learning courses can learn at home without travelling to school, reducing a number of cars or bikes on roads.＋On the other hand, this method is not the best way to reduce traffic jams because of its difficulties. Changing the daily habits of a wide range of people is not easy, governments and organizations must work hard for a long time to upgrade their systems from offline to online. While individuals can also use public transport to gain the same result.＋‎In addition to their difficulties, other ways to reduce transportation problems convince me to disagree with this position. First, governments should control the population and upgrade streets instead of changing the entire system, which can improve the transport conditions in the long term. A balanced population and better road planning for a variety of vehicles will make the transportation more convenient and sustainable. If there are multiple roads, lanes for each type of vehicle, people can choose another way to avoid traffic jams.＋

In conclusion, although reducing the need to travel can help ease traffic congestion to some extent, I believe it is not the best solution because it is difficult to implement widely, while improving road infrastructure and urban planning is more practical and effective.
