The bar chart show illustrates the the female unemployment rates in the countries of the UK in 2013 and 2014 Overall, the female unemployment rate fell in England, Wales and Northern Ireland between the two years, whereas Scotland was the only country to experience an increase. In addition, England and Scotland recorded the highest figures, while Wales and Northern Ireland had relatively lower rates. In England, the proportion of unemployed women decreased slightly from 6.8% in 2013 to 6.5% in 2014. A similar trend was seen in Wales, where the figure dropped from 5.4% to 5.0%. Northern Ireland witnessed the most significant decline, with the unemployment rate falling by one percentage point from 5.6% to 4.6%. By contrast, Scotland saw a rise in female unemployment. The rate increased from 6.1% in 2013 to 6.7% in 2014, making it the highest among the four countries in the latter year. Despite this increase, the overall pattern shows an improvement in female employment across most parts of the UK.
