The bar chart compares the proportion of people in different age groups attended three particular music genres in Australia in 2006. Overall, the 18-24 group attended popular music accounted for by far the highest proportion of people, while the 25-34 group who listened to classical music exhibited the lowest ratio. Of all the music events, popular one attracted almost all ages except people over 45, whereas classical music exhibited the lowest percentage in all ages, with the exception of 55+ group. Regarding the 18-24 age group, over 37% people attended popular event, around 5% higher than that of 35-44 group and 10% higher than 25-34 year olds joining popular concert. By contrast, the corresponding figure for 45-54 and over 55 age groups were just roughly 13%, which is one-third that of the predominant proportion, and just less than 10%. In terms of music events, popular music seemed to be the most relevant event, which respectively fourfold, two fold and was around 13% higher than the percentage of the second high attendance event in the first three age groups. In contrary, classical music was the lowest in those groups. However, 15% people from 45 years old listened to opera, which was also the most popular event in those age groups.
