Nowadays, an increasing number of many school leavers tend to choose to travel and work for a period before entering university. There are both advantages and drawbacks about this and whether it is positive for their academic syllabus. In my oppinion, despite some potential risks of distraction and inequality, taking a gap year to work or travel is highly beneficial for their future learning.

The first and foremost benefit is that young people often enter universities with the better understanding of why they are there and what they need to do. This is because when they have more chances to work different jobs, they have gained a lot of experiences or skills such as communication, punctuality, and self discipline. Work can test those ideas aganst reality, after that they can know what is appropriate for themselves. In contrast, at school, students may choose their degree based mainly on vague idea of future career, family expectations, social media or even the grades. Furthermore, students travelling various destinations or countries explore its their culture and traditions, so they often understand the lessons deeper because of their experiences. For example young people who have worked with customers often have more skills and experiences to apply in their academic knowledge or have lived in foreign countries are more likely to be more adaptable and have a deeper insight into them. However, the some drawbacks to them. school leavers who intend to work or travel are tend to be distracted in study. student may lose academic routine and find it hard to understand their academic knowledge because of focusing more on gaining financial independence or engaging in leisure activities. others may spend their period without plan, which can turn this valuable break into simple delay. this is also an issue of inequality. this is because people growing up in a weathy family is easier for going aboard or travelling, while others in impoverished family often have to take tiring and poorly paid jobs that lack educational value. Even so, these problems do not make the idea itself negative. They show that benefit depends on how the experience is organized . A period with a realistic goal such as saving money learning new skill or languages , improving themselves is far more likely to support their later study than a open-ended break with no direction.

＋In conclusion, it is apparent that some school leavers tend to go for travelling or work before university may bring about some drawbacks, such as the issue of inquality and distraction in studying. However, I belive that it bring many advantages that create a solid foundation for their learning.
