Some parents give their children everything that their children ask for or allow them to do whatever they want to do. Is this good for children? What could be consequences for these children when they grow up?

Word count: 255

Introduction

Certain parents indulge all their children's demands unconditionally or even grant them unrestricted freedom. In my opinion, this practice is greatly harmful and has numerous negative impacts on their children when they reach adulthood.

Body

Granted, indulgent parenting can significantly affect children’s personal lives. First, fulfilling their all requests can make them become poorly resilient in their development into adulthood. Because they always get what they want, they rarely learn to cope with rejection or setbacks. As a result, when they need to handle problems, they will have a tendency to give up, especially when things do not go as they expect. Second, constant indulgence can foster entitlement and self-centered behaviours. In all cases, they may expect their friends and partners to satisfy their needs like they way their parents have been doing without caring about others' feelings, which may lead to conflicts and unstable relationships. Moreover, overindulgence can undermine children's long-term professional success. Having relied heavily on their parents to solve problems throughout childhood, they may struggle to make independent decisions. In high-pressure workplaces, employees are expected not only to collaborate effectively with colleagues but also to work independently and make sound decisions. As a result, these individuals may find it difficult to adapt to workplace demands and perform effectively.

Conclusion

In conclusion, although every parent naturally wants the best for their children, excessive indulgence can do more harm than good in the long run. Parents should therefore adopt a balanced parenting style that combines affection with reasonable boundaries, helping children become independent and responsible adults.
