There is a growing tendency among some school leavers to travel or work for a period of time before going to university. This essay argues that this is undoubtedly a positive trend.

Spending a period of time for travelling or working provides many worthy experiences for students. In other words, when students travel to other destinations, they can be exposed to the culture, landscapes and local lifestyles,… of those places. Besides, students can do some jobs which they like, it not only helps them earn money but also generates opportunities for them to join the labor market. Through these experiences, they can broaden student’s horizons and develop greater self-awareness, what students like and dislike, so students can have a clear direction when entering university and ensure successful career in the future. For example, after finishing the national high school graduation examination, some students tend to take a full-time or part-time job in a café or a restaurant,… where their main purpose is gain experience and comprehend how businesses run and whether they are actually suitable with this field. Through these experiences, students can understand better their passion and make the right decision for themselves. On the other hand, the period of time that students spend for travelling and working is the time to rest and relax. The reason is that when students travel to other places such as beaches, mountains, forests,… they will feel more relaxed and comfortable instead of being worried or stressed as preparing for university. Similarly, students can do anything they want. Since they often lack time to participate in the labor market while studying, this period is a chance for them to explore the professional fields they excel in. This period of time allows students to recharge their energy, reduce stress to continue moving forward with greater motivation. For instance, many students who enter the summer holiday before starting university tend to go to the beach with family or their friends, they spend all this time to enjoy, explore and immerse themselves in nature. Therefore, they can improve their mood and become more positive about life.＋
