＋The problem of personal autonomy has long been controversial, while one school of thought holds that people are becoming dependent on others nowadays, others believe that individuals are having more autonomy.＋ Although there are explanations for both perspectives, I lean towards the latter view.

On the one hand, it is understandable why some people support the idea that people are becoming dependent. From a social perspective, many people, especially youngsters, would have a similar moral framework. This is because their parents could often play role models and give them some core values to handle difficult problems in daily life, including responsibility, apology, and respect for older people.＋ As a result, individuals could adhere to these social standards, since this could help them to navigate through life. However, this trend may be theoretical, in practice, it is not without its undesirable effect. If people are under pressure to tradition, they will have mental problems such as anxiety and depression. As they could not live with their real personality, consequently leading to an increase in resentment to society and resorting to criminal activities to release their emotions.＋

On the other hand, I support those who believe that people nowadays are having more independence. Firstly, there are more improvements and creativity in society in the modern era. If people cannot live independently, this could hinder social progress and reduce the productivity from the workforce contributing to society.＋ Thus, living independently could help a growth of living standards for residents and individuals would be more authentic. Moreover, people would regard personal autonomy like a basic human right. This could cause them to be respected as a human, not tools for family or society to manipulate.＋

＋To summarize, while individuals think that people are living dependently on each other, I believe that individuals nowadays are having more autonomy since they are more authentic and see independence as a basic human right.
