Many people think that museums charging entrance fees would yield more benefits than drawbacks. Personally, I strongly oppose this opinion as I believe the negative consequences are far more impactful. Ultimately, the detrimental effects on education and culture would overshadow the fiscal gains.

Introduction
Body
I admit that several museums are charging admission fees to meet their financial needs. A museum is like any other institute that requires a budget to fund its activities. In reality, it has to cover its operating costs and expenses such as staff wages, maintenance costs, utility costs, and other related expenditures. Moreover, the collected cash can be spent on preserving exhibits like restoration of delicate oil paintings or the climate-controlled storage of ancient manuscripts. Revenue collected from entrance fee sales would certainly be a useful source of funding to aid the museum.
Notwithstanding, in numerous countries, governments are using national budgets to fund almost all the museums (excluding some for-profit privately owned museums). There are multiple underlying reasons for such a practice. First, authorities consider museums places of education that would enhance the citizens' knowledge and awareness of history. They believe that access to the national and ancestral history must be made free as it is one of the citizens' rights. Second, free museums could work as a means to raise the country's national profile. Through exhibits, foreign tourists could learn more about a country's history. Relics and ancient artifacts could reveal how the ancestors thought and understood life. For instance, in the famous museums of Athens, many terracotta pots hold stories of how ancient Athenians worshipped Hephaestus, the Fire God. The Greek ancestors offered tributes in those pots with prayers that the Fire God would spare them from earthquakes and grant them fruitful seasons. Stories like this can spread out like concentric ripples, arousing curiosity that attracts more international travelers to come and learn.
Should museums charge people for visiting museums, it would negate all of those benefits. As a result, fewer citizens and tourists might be willing to pay to come and learn about national history. Not only would it undermine the educational purposes but it could also hinder the popularity of the country. Therefore, maintaining free access is essential for both educational and diplomatic reasons.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I firmly disagree with the thinking that charging visitors for coming to museums would bring fewer disadvantages than advantages. While the major advantage of such a practice is financial profit, the disadvantages can range from lowering national understanding of history, breaching a citizens' right of free education about their ancestors' past, to impeding progress of national image promotion.
