＋It is sometimes believed that food in countries should all be produced and not imported from another. While I acknowledge the logic behind this suggestion, I am still in disagreement with it for several reasons.

Proponents of this view may have several arguments. They may argue that self production can enable countries to easily control the quality of food. In fact, it is more convenient for authorities to check on companies about their process and resources, thereby ensuring food safety. Another possible argument is that domestic production may provide jobs for individuals from different backgrounds. The amount of food to meet large demands of people may require many steps in the process of making and distributing, which calls for several factories and supermarkets to be built. This construction creates numerous job opportunities for young adults and thus stimulate economic development.＋

Nevertheless, I still oppose this view for several reasons related to practicality and risk of damage the environment. Regarding the former, it is unrealistic of some countries to produce all the food by themselves. For example, in developing countries, all food being made locally can lead to a burden on state budgets as the production stage requires a lot of resources and labor. Another reason worth mentioning is that food factories upon making large quantity of food can release harmful substances to the environment. Massive production of food may need the operation of several machines, and if these tools are not strictly controlled, exhaust fumes such as CO2 or methane can potentially pollute the surrounding environment.

In conclusion, it is undeniable that domestic production of food has some benefits in terms of quality control and employment opportunity. However, I cannot support the view that all countries should be self-contained because of impracticality in some countries and potential harm to the ecosystems.
