It has been observed that many argue about which is a better option for school leavers. Although some people believe that the government should allocate more financial resources to vocational training and practical skills rather than on academic university education, I partially agree with this view. My inclination will be elaborated in the ensuing paragraghs with revelant examples.

The primary reason why I hold this view is that investing in vocational training helps directly address the imbalance in the labour market and rapidly boost economic development. In other words, today many countries are facing a shortage of skilled workers and an oversupply of university graduates. Furthermore, everyone having a bachelor’s degree but less technical workers will hamper manufacturing industry and core services. Therefore, vocational training short-term helps students take part in workforce faster and decline unemployment rate in young people. For example, Germany’s government invest huge budget to merge theoretical knowledge at school and practice at businesses. Thanks to that Germany became a manufacturing powerhouse with unemployment rate in young people lowest in Europe. On the other hand, I believe that cutting fund for university education would weak renew innovate and long-term development of country. This is because not only do universities for teach, but it also a hub for scientific research and academic advancement. In addition, specialized industries like medical, biotechnology, AI and business administration require a very strong and deep of theoretical foundation which vocational school cannot provide for students. For instance, Silicon Valley in the United States, it is largely nurtured by highly skilled human resources and research studies from Stanford University and UC Berkeley. Without high-quality university education, technology global groups cannot be created.

In conclusion, although there are some benefits investing funding to vocational training is essential to tackle workforce shortages, I still hold the view that university education remains importance for a nation’s sustainable growth. Instead, the government should balance invest for both aspect to student can holistic development.
