In recent years, an increasing number of students who take a gap year by working or travelling after graduating from high school and before attending univerisity. While this trend may have some drawbacks, I believe that the advantages will outweigh the disadvantages for several reasons.

It is undeniable that taking a gap year before taking part in university creates some negative effects for students. One notable reason of those is that students may lose their academic momentum after spending a long period away from formal education, making it more difficult to readjust to university. Another drawback is that some students may become financially comfortable after entering the workforce and decide to postpone or even abandon higher education, Therefore, if students do not have ability to make a productive gap year, it may lead to this period becoming an extended holiday without any educational and professional values.

The primary benefit of such activity is that it allows students to collect valueable real-life experience and develop the essential skills. Travelling independently exposes students to different cultures and perspectives, making them more open-minded and adaptable. Likewise, working enables students to acquire practical skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management, all of which are highly valued by employers. Furthurmore, experiencing the workplace also helps students to discover their interets and strengths, allowing them to make more informed decisions when selecting a university major. Consequently, they are less likely to regret their academic choices or switch courses later.

In conclusion, while a gap year may delay students' academic progress and pose certain risks, I believe that the drawbacks are outweighed by the significant opportunities it provides for personal growth, practical skill development, and better career planning. As a result, taking a well-planned gap year can serve as an excellent bridge between school and university.
