The line graph illustrates the percentages of households that owned different numbers of computers in a European country over a 14-year period from 1997 to 2011. Overall, the proportion of households with no computer decreased considerably, whereas the percentages owning two or more computers increased throughout the period. By contrast, the figure for households with only one computer remained broadly unchanged at around 45%. In 1997, roughly 47% of households did not have a computer, slightly exceeding the proportion with a single computer, at about 45%. Over the following years, the percentage of households without a computer fell steadily, reaching around 30% in 2007 and then declining further to approximately 21% by 2011. Meanwhile, the share of households with one computer fluctuated only slightly, generally remaining between 45% and 46%. As for households with multiple computers, ownership of two computers rose considerably from about 6% in 1997 to 15% in 2003. The figure continued to increase thereafter, reaching approximately 28% by the end of the period. A similar but less dramatic trend was observed for households with three or more computers, which started at virtually 0% and climbed gradually to around 8% in 2011.
