The chart provides information on the amount of carbon emissions from three distinct kinds of fossil fuels sources of greenhouse gas, namely oil, gas, and coal in the UK from 1990 to 2010. Overall, it is clear to notice that carbon emissions from gas witnessed a steady rise over the time shown, whereas both oil and coal observed a reverse trend. In addition, gas became the largest source of carbon emissions while the lowest contributor went for coal. In 1990, emitters from coal reached the highest number among these types, constituting nearly 320 million tons, allowing it to become the leading source of greenhouse gas in the UK. Besides that, the number of oil and coal were modestly higher, at 270 and 220 millions tons respectively. Over the following 20 years, coal emitters continuously declined and became the least number of carbon emissions in the UK in the last year shown, accounting for approximately 180 millions tons. Following the same tendency, the carbon emissions from oil gradually fell to 210 million tons in 2010, but it remained higher than coal. Conversely, gas emissions experienced a significant upward trend and reached the peak at 330 millions tons, ranking the largest fossil fuel of carbon emission in the UK in 2010.
