＋In most countries, plastic containers are now more widespread than ever and used commonly by many food and drink companies. However, I believe that the disadvantages of plastic containers outweigh the benefits regarding environmental issues

One of the demerits of plastic containers can be attributed to be detrimental as it was discharged into the environment. The food and beverage industry primarily uses plastic packaging to distribute to the retail market, after that the customers purchase it which finally is thrown indiscriminately into public areas. As a result, plastic bottles and boxes or single-use plastic items used by informal food vendors are scattered around residential areas and degrade the visual appeal of the environment. While these items require centuries to decompose naturally,people are unaware of the negative effect from their actions as continuing it, and thereby it poses a long-term threat to the habitat of species. For example, in Vietnam, the state of the To Lich River is heavily contaminated when the citizens surrounding perennially released household waste into that river, posing significant challenges to recover to its original condition and also destroying the ecosystem of freshwater fish. These problems entail companies to give priority to eco-friendly initiatives.Nevertheless, some potential advantages of plastic containers is undoubtedly its affordable price. Many food and drink suppliers commonly employ plastic containers since they help minimize raw material expenses and offer reasonable prices for individuals in every social class. If the products are designed for human well-being but this comes at a high financial cost, these products will be ignored by customers when the main concern is its prices leading to hardly access to various consumers in the market. Therefore, it creates mutual benefits for both supply and demand, the companies make a stable profit while individuals in low-income groups are able to pay for essential commodities in their daily life. For instance, replacing plastic containers to utilize eco-friendly materials results in an escalation in product prices including material costs and manufacturing process that leads to unsold stock and the supplier are unable to sustain operations. This clearly demonstrates that plastic containers are still prioritized when the supplier’s target is consumers.

In conclusion, although plastic containers provide equal opportunities for everyone, avoiding creating financial burdens, its drawbacks are ultimately compromised by the severe pollution it caused to the habitat of every species
