Essay

In brief, the steel industry experienced a general decline in both total demand and production, alongside a reduction in employments. By contrast, a opposing upward trajectory was seen in the metric for imported steel. Regarding the line illustration, the figure for steel's value in total UK demand took the first place during the surveyed period, which declined considerably from 200,000 in 1970 to around 100,000 in 1990 before remaining stable at this level over years. Similarly, the cost for steel in UK production also experienced a remarkable fade from approximately 165,000 in the first year and ended at nearly 75,000 by the end of the period. Conversely, an upward trajectory was seen in the metric for imported steel, which surged from about 15,000 in 1970 to nearly five-fold that data, at approximately 70,000 after the 30-year period. Nevertheless, this category remained the lowest place all over the phase. Turning to the remaining graph, the data for employment status in UK steel industry witnessed a downward trend throughout the surveyed period. Initially accounting for 50,000 in 1970, it declined rapidly by 10,000 after 10 years before plummeting to around 22,000 in 1990. Finally, the figure saw a slight fade to around 18.000 by the end of the phase.
