The line graph compares the amount of acid rain emissions produced by four different sectors in the UK over 17 years period from 1990 to 2007. Overall, it is clear that the total amount of acid rain emissions in UK experienced a significant down trend, with the electricity, gas and water supply sector performing the most dramatic decline. While other industries and domestic sectors also cut down on their emissions, the figure for transport and communication are not significant fluctuations. In 1990, the electricity, gas and water supply was the main contributor to acid rain, emitting around 3.3 million tonnes. Amount of emission decrease sharply to about 1.3 million tonnes in 1997, even continued to hit the bottom at about 0.5 million tonnes in 2007. In contrast, others industries ranked 2 in 1997 with more than 2 million tonnes. The trend dropped steadily and slows down every years, to end at 1.2 million tonnes in 2007. In terms of transport and communication, starting at low lever about 0.7 million tonnes in 1990. Emissions fluctuated slightly, increasing slowly to nearly 1 million tonnes in the late 1990s before decreasing to the original level in 2007. On the other hand, domestic is always the industry with the lowest emisions during the period. To begin at about 0.6 million tonnes in 1990 and gradually decreasing to less than 0.3 million tonnes in 2007.
