The line graph illustrates the proportion of employment in four sectores (Manufacturing, Retail, Agriculture, Healthcare) of the economy in the United States from 1960 to 2020. Overall, the four sectors underwent different paths in the time range examined. While most of them experienced a substantial upward trajectory up to 1980, the graph reveals that the agricultural system slightly dropped from the beginning. With regards to retail and healthcare, both underwent similar trajectories. Firstly, both sectors commenced from respectively roughly upon 5 and 2 million employment opportunities and increased steadily over the years. It is notable to illustrate the more significant upswing that the healthcare sector experienced in the last 26 years, enabling it to reach the numbers gained by retail. Examining the manufacturing, the chart clearly highlights the fact that this sector offered the highest proportion of career opportunities in 1960, and it continued to rise until reaching its peak in 1980 with 20 million jobs granted. However, in the following years its numbers dropped significantly becoming the second least sector in 2020. Agriculture, on the other hand, underwent a completely different path characterised by its gradual decreasing fluctuation over the entire time span.
