People should replace processed food with organic food whenever possible. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Word count: 369

Introduction

Individuals are supposed to substitute processed food for organic food as far as feasible. While there are some benefits to this practice, I partly oppose this notion due to the drawbacks it presents.

Body

On the one hand, it is undeniable that organic food provides numerous essential nutrients. In fact, organic produce is widely recognized as being richer in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which play a vital role in maintaining physical well-being. By contrast, junk food commonly contains high levels of synthetic additives and saturated fat that exceed standard dietary guidelines for a typical meal, which poses a threat to human health. For instance, a Hanoi student who frequently relies on quick meals like fried chicken and hamburgers tends to consume excessive calories and insufficient essential nutrients, leading to an increased risk of childhood obesity, malnutrition, and cardiovascular disorders in later life. Conversely, not only do those who opt for home-cooked meals prepared with organic ingredients maintain a healthy weight but they also build stronger immunity. This clearly reinforces the view that organic food offers superior health benefits. On the other hand, despite the above-mentioned advantages, I believe that organic produce should not replace completely pre-packaged meals because of their convenience. Not only do most individuals face relentless work and study deadlines, but so pervasive is the time constraint in modern urban life that many find it practically impossible to allocate time for preparing home-cooked meals from scratch. As a result, ready-to-eat meals become an optimal choice, which offer the time-poor a complete meal at an affordable price and enough energy to continue working. For example, a full-time nurse who frequently works overtime and night shifts might go to the supermarket nearby and purchase a TV dinner instead of commuting home and cooking dinner herself, which is highly time-consuming and hinders her work. Consequently, ready meals might be a more compelling option for citizens in contemporary society, despite their nutritional shortcomings.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while there are many benefits regarding encouraging people to consume natural food, I still contend that it is unrealistic to expect people to do so in every situation. Therefore, rather than a complete replacement, a balanced approach that combines both options is likely the most pragmatic solution.
