However, others think that places still play an important role in society. ＋This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I believe theatres and cinemas are still essential with citizens.

On the one hand, it is understandable why some people think that theatres and cinemas are no longer as important as before. Thanks to the Internet, people can watch films, TV shows and live performances on their phones, laptops or smart TVs whenever they want. This is more convenient because they do not need to travel or buy expensive tickets. In addition, online platforms offer a wide variety of entertainment at a lower cost. For example, many students prefer watching movies on streaming websites at home because it is cheaper and more comfortable than going to the cinema.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas still have great economic and cultural value. Economically, they create jobs for actors, directors, ticket sellers and many other workers. They also attract visitors and support nearby businesses such as restaurants and cafés. Culturally, these places provide a unique experience that cannot be replaced by watching online. Watching a film on a large screen with excellent sound or enjoying a live performance allows people to share emotions with others. For example, many families still go to the cinema together during holidays because it is a special activity that brings them closer.

In my opinion, although online entertainment is becoming more popular, theatres and cinemas will continue to be important. They offer an atmosphere and social experience that people cannot fully enjoy at home. Therefore, I believe both online platforms and traditional entertainment venues can exist together and meet different needs.
