The bar chart compares the proportion of the United Kingdom’s GDP generated by 2 different industries including IT and Sevice from 1992 to 2000. Overall, it is evident that both industries made increasingly significant contributions to the country’s GDP. Notably, the IT industry experienced a more rapid growth than the Service industry and became the bigger contributors by consistent margin. In 1992, the IT industry accounted for over 6% of GDP while the Service industry contributed to a smaller share, with 4%. Over the next 4 years, the figures for both industries witnessed slight increase. The IT industry’s contribution rose slightly in 1994 before falling slowly to under 8% whereas the figure for Service industry grew constantly to around 7%, narrowing the gap between them. During the final 4 years, the disparity between the two sector widened noticeably due to the considerable rise in the contribution of IT industry compared to the slow increase of the Service Industry. The percentage of Service Industry remained almost the same at approximately 8% while the IT industry’s contribution grew significantly to 12% before peaking at over 14%, making it the dominant contributor at the end of the period.
