Personally, I believe that both have negative effects on children, especially the content that they watch.

Admittedly, there are justifiable reasons to believe that the amount of time that children take to watch TV has a detrimental effect on them. One key reason is that excessively exposing to screen time might influence their physical and mental health. This is because spending a large amount of time constantly in front of the television encourages youngsters to sit in the same place for hours, which makes them not have enough time to go outside and have real life interaction. As a result, children may suffer from several ailments such as: cardiovascular diseases and sight-shorten. Moreover, spending much time in front of the screen habit might forms depression and sleep deprived to the children. For instance, teenagers who live in busy families, do not have fully attention and supervision from their parents if excessively get exposed to television, they might suffer from autism and obesity. Nevertheless, this line of reasoning is not sound because the contents that youngsters watch have long-term influences.However, there are more compelling reasons to argue that the contents negatively affect children's behaviour. One of the primary reason is that inappropriate shows and videos easily showed up to children. This is since some improper contents such as: crime-related videos, violent contents and age-inappropriayte showed on social medias are not fully filtered by content filtering and some children keep watching these contents without distinction between rightful and wrong actions. Consequently, youngsters who watch inappropriate shows constantly might normalize violence and imitate misbehaviours that are displayed on these videos. For example, teenagers when get exposed to adult shows such as violent shows or criminal contents, they have more preference to mimic these aggressive acts and misbehave.＋

In conclusion, both the amount of time and the contents have detrimental impacts on children. While excessively watching television affects their physical and mental health, the contents of the videos that youngsters get exposed to significantly influence their behaviours.
