The table illustrates the annual salaries of secondary/high school teachers across five countries (Australia, Denmark, Luxembourg, Korea and Japan) in 2009 and the years taken to get maximum. Overall, teachers in Luxembourg received the highest salary while those in Australia were paid the lowest. In contrast, those in Luxembourg, Korea and Japan had to spend over 30 years to reach maximum. Looking at Australia and Denmark first, the two nations shared similar figures. In detail, Australian teachers initiated with $34,600, but they were able to get the highest salary ($48,000) after a 9-year working. Therefore, they also earned the same amount of money after working 15 years. As for Denmark, educators there were paid $47,000 at first, and they spent the shortest time (8 years) to reach top salary of $54,000 in comparison.
