Overall, the average monthly income of Japanese workers increased dramatically throughout the period, while the prices of color and black-and-white televisions experienced the reversed trend. Additionally, the black-and-white televisions, which were initially the most expensive items, became the cheapest items by the end of the period, while the monthly salary of Japanese workers continued to increase to surpass the prices of both models to become the highest figure. Concerning the average income per month of Japanese workers, it began the lowest at under 20,000 yen. This figure rose steadily to approximately 33,000 yen in 1973, followed by a remarkable surge over a decade and reached under 70,000 yen in 1983, surpassing the prices of black-and-white and color televisions. Regarding the television prices, black-and-white televisions cost approximately 110,000 yen, followed by a plunge to 40,000 yen in 1963, and halved in the last decade at 20,000 yen. Similarly, the color televisions were initially sold at 100,000 yen in 1963, which then exhibited a plunge to under 60,000 yen in 1973, and declined slightly at 20,000 yen in 1983.
