In the contemporary era, the development of social media has a passionate discussion among stakeholders globally. While many believe that the governments should increase their control over social media platforms to protect members of society, especially on teenagers from disinformation or negative content, others contend that the transparent regulation should be introduced to prevent censorship. Consequently, this essay argues that the benefits of this invention outweigh the possible drawbacks.

On one hand, the proponents of this matter point to an argument that strict regulation can limit freedom of speech, it also leads to censorship and the suppression of important voices. If the government didn't strictly control social media platforms, misinformation and extremist elements would become a serious problem. For instance, the world witnessed numerous misinformation has negatively influenced young people and it distort awareness of inhabitants. However, it is conspicuous that governments regulate the use of social media to offer substantial benefits to protect residents, especially in education for adolescents. The most significant aspect is that governments can reduce the spread of misinformation and a double edge sword of social media. Moreover, it can also protect children from violent content and it can prevent extremist propaganda. For example, the world witnessed in the most developed countries, notably in the United Sates, North Korea and China, the government strict control of social media. As a result, they can reduce national security and remove harmful material of social media platform.＋ In my view, the government governs social media with both pros and cons; however, I believe that the merits significantly outpace the disadvantages. Although, striking control of social media causes a negative factor as it is difficult to define harmful contents or reduce diverse opinions, but the government should cooperate with technology companies to creates solutions such as improving their AI system to filter misinformation. In addition, schools should promote digital literacy among students.

In conclusion, although the aforementioned disadvantages remain, it is undeniable that the benefits of these inventions are more significantly the drawbacks. It is advisable for learners to prioritize developing lifelong learning strategies, enabling individuals to adapt effectively to the new era of rapid technological and social progress.
