Overall, coffee gained more popularity among the four examined countries, with the exception of the UK, where importing tea was significantly more popular. It is also noticeable that the quantity of tea imported to the UK was double than that of Germany, and four-times higher than the figure for the US and Canada. Interestingly, the amount of both tea and coffee imports to Canada and the US were identical. Looking first at Canada and the US, where both imports more coffee than tea, and the US’s level for both products was slightly higher than that of Canada. The import volume of tea in both countries were 20.000 and a little over 20.000 tonnes respectively. The inbound coffee shipments of Canada and the US was double than the amount of imported tea, which was about 40.000 tonnes. Moving to the UK and Germany, where both display a different import pattern. The UK leads the four countries in terms of tea imports, with 80.000 tonnes. The coffee supplied to this country was far lower, with more than two-times smaller that of tea, standing at 30.000 tonnes.
