On the one hand, those who believe mobile phones and computers responsible for this phenomenon argue that individuals spend too much time communicating on online world. As these devices can allow people to connect with each others instantly without physical engagement, it removes the unnecessary steps such as commuting, and preparing for their appearances, while the goals of the conversations can still be achieved. This comfortable feelings, as a result, may make the number of real life interactions decreases overtime, eroding interpersonal skills because the lack of practicing.＋

On the end of the other spectrum, this view fails to consider that more time online cannot inherently mean that it replaces all the time for real life situations. Many conversations may require the involvement of emotions, engagement and non-verbal languagues, which phones and computers simply cannot offer. For instance, when one suffers from a bad event, what he or she need is the emotional supports from close relationships that can bridge the emotional gap rather than from a cool text on the phone. Such interactions ensure that the capability to communicate in offline is preserved and practiced everyday.

In conclusion, while the trend of using phones and computers makes people spend fewer time on face to face communication, the ability of real life interactions cannot be lost when there many situations need it.
