In today’s world, the question of whether the primary objective of educational institutions is to shape children into competent workers of responsible citizens, rather than serving their personal development, has become a highly contentious issue. It is widely believed that schools prioritize social and economic utility. I completely disagree that schools ignore nurturing individual growth.

The foremost reason is that Every child has different strengths, interests and learning styles. Schools create an environment where students can develop their abilities and receive suitable guidance. They should also provide opportunities for students to explore and develop their unique talents instead of forcing everyone to follow the same path. For instance, students who are talented in music, art or sports should receive appropriate training so that they can excel in their chosen fields. Besides academic knowledge, schools also teach important life skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication and problem-solving. These skills help students become more independent, confident and adaptable. For example, when students work on group projects, they are encouraged to cooperate with others, solve real-life problems and express their own ideas. Therefore, schools should prioritise students' personal growth because it prepares them for future success. Moreover, another reason why schools should help students develop as individuals is that this naturally enables them to become responsible citizens and productive workers in the future. When students are encouraged to think independently, solve problems and communicate effectively, they gain essential skills that employers highly value. As a result, they can adapt more easily to different working environments and perform their jobs more effectively. In addition, schools that promote moral values, empathy and critical thinking help students make sensible decisions and respect others. Therefore, they are more likely to obey the law, care about social issues and contribute positively to their communities. Society benefits from citizens who are responsible and actively involved in community activities, such as volunteering and environmental campaigns.

In conclusion, although schools have an important responsibility to prepare children to become good citizens and productive workers, I i do not believe that this should be their main purpose, Schools should focus on helping students develop their own abilities, interests and confidence. In this way, they can not only enjoy successful and meaningful lives but also naturally contribute to society.
