In today's rapidly evolving society, the question of whether criminals re-offend after having been punished has become increasingly relevant. Therefore, there is growing demand for effective solutions to this problem as well as finding the reasons behind this issue. This essay will discuss these two aspects of this trend.

There are several reasons why many people continue to commit crimes after being punished. The primary reason is that criminals' underlying problems often remain unresolved, leading them to the difficult circumstances to re-offend. For example, some offenders commit theft to overcome their financial difficulties, after leaving the prison or punishment, the problems they are facing still exist, forcing them to re-offend in order to survive. Moreover, the current punishment methods are not sufficient to deter the repeated committing. Many young criminals, who are overindulgent, may continue offending because they simply enjoy it and want to satisfy their curiosity. In addition, those people usually think everything can be solved by money and are less likely to comply with laws and regulations since their parents and relatives will help them in the end.＋

However, I would suggest some solutions for this trend to alleviate the number of criminals who re-offend. First of all, if social authorities can remove partly the root cause of any criminal behaviour, it can lower the likelihood of re-offending among offenders. For instance, the government should pay more attention to social welfare and reduce the gap between the rich and the poor, such as investing more in underdeveloped regions or constructing more infrastructures. This financial funding and amenities may lower the reasons behind most crimes to commit. Furthermore, there are more moral policies nowadays,making punishment alone no longer as effective as it once was . Nonetheless, rehabilitation programmes should focus on changing offenders' attitudes and behaviour. It can significantly raise overall awareness among many people before they stay committed. Consequently, offenders should be held more accountable for their actions, making them less likely to commit crimes again.

＋Taking everything into account, despite the fact there are still some reasons that cause offenders to re-offend such as their unsolved problems or the excessive reliance on their wealth, I would suggest some solutions can work effectively towards these problems like removing the root cause of any crimes and reform rehabilitation and correctional policies.
