The maps illustrate the developments which have occurred to a city since 1950. Overall, the city has experienced a complete transformation with more facilities added. Previously, in 1950, the city was a thinly-populated region, which was separated into two parts by a river and connected by a bridge. The northern side of the river was occupied by a business district surrounded by a residential area. Furthermore, a government building was located on the southern side of the river, while an airport was situated in the southeast. In addition, the city was accessed by two major roads, running from north to south, and east to west. Up to now, the most striking change is that the residential area and the business district have expanded considerable on the northern side of the river. Another noticeable change is the enlargement of the airport, while a dam has been constucted to the west of it to block the flow in this region. As a result, a large lake has been formed in the central part of the city and a new bridge has been built connecting both side the lake. Moreover, another resdential area has been established around a new business district and government buildings on the southern side of the river. Final development is the erection of a new road linking the southern and the eastern roads of the city.
