The process illustrates how pineapple products are made. Overall, there are several stages in the process of making pineapple products. These include growing and harvesting pineapples and then classifying these fruits based on their size before culminating in either producing packaged products or exporting them. Initially, pineapple crowns are planted approximately 26 cm apart in a tropical climate with sufficient sunlight and temperatures ranging from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius. After seven months, the plants are exposed to ethylene. One year after planting, they reach their standard sizes, representing a length of 30 cm and a weight of 2 kg. Thereafter, they are harvested and rinsed before being sorted. The harvested pineapples are graded into three different sizes: small, medium, and large. It is important to note that both the small and medium-sized fruits undergo three identical initial steps: they are removed from the crowns and peeled. Juice is then extracted from small pineapples, which is subsequently packaged as pineapple juice, whereas the medium-sized ones are sliced into smaller pieces and canned. Unlike the two aforementioned sizes of pineapples, the larger ones retain their crowns and are carefully waxed before being neatly arranged in crates. These crates are then loaded onto ships for export overseas.
