It is claimed that some sports such as skydiving and skiing should be prohibited because of their dangerousness. While some people may say that a great number of individuals can benefit from these extreme sports, I do believe that they must be banned by the government.

On the one hand, it is understandable why some people hold the belief that these sports should be banned. One of the most noticeable reasons is that extreme sports can leave a profound impact on the society. To begin with, these kinds of sports can not only detrimentally affect the participants themselves, but also plunge their families and the public health systems into financial burdens if accidents occur. Even more, other aspects such as education, and economy are also highly damaged because a great amount of money, which is supposed to invest in them, have to be allocated to carry the consequences of the accidents. In other wordsAs a result, in the long-term, these extreme sports waste essential resources that could be invested in other crucial factors. potentially hinder human progress. Some people argue that these sports can be beneficial. It might be true since they can provide people with both mental and physical benefits such as helping individuals gain a sense of achievement and adventure and pushing them out of their comfort zone. However, this claim is logically flawed. Firstly, there still exist other sports which have equivalent advantages but don’t put people in high-risk situations such as: marathon and indoor climbing. Secondly, temporary joys and benefits can never be worth persistent injuries and sacrificing life since if people suffer severe accidents, benefits will definiately become meaningless. Due to these reasons, I still believe that the government should prohibit these kinds of extreme sports.

In conclusion, although there are some arguments that extreme sports are mentally and physically beneficial, I firmly believe that their drawbacks such as the burdens for the society completely outweight its temporary benefits. Thus, the government and other safety organisations should step in and ban them.
